Thursday night personal

Lucas watching Lawrence O'Donnell. (He's a Demo-cat.)
I recently found out that my company offers discounts on a range of products and services through an outfit called EC Purchasing. I was especially interested in the generous discounts on cell phone service, since I rarely use my cell phone (except as an alarm clock). It's basically my back-up phone, and my service (with Sprint) is very basic. (At home, I use a Magic Jack, and at work I use my work phone.) My cell bill is not even $40 month.

EC Purchasing offered 20% off on Sprint and 19% off on Verizon (among other deals with the other wireless companies). It's been years since I went with Sprint and wanted to get a fresh look at what's out there. So tonight I drove up to the nearby Verizon store to see what their plans were. They didn't have anything cheaper than what I'm already paying with Sprint. So I just decided to stay with Sprint for the time being (actually, if I apply the 20% discount, I'll have to stay with Sprint for another two years or incur a  $200 charge).

I then drove down to the Sprint store, which is right across the street from me (by the Starbucks). The guy was going to set up the 20% discount but said it would be faster if I did it myself through our Intranet at work, so I'll do it tomorrow. Then we talked about my old phone, which I'd brought with me. He suggested I keep it till it stopped working. So that pretty much answered all the questions I had. (And after further research online when I got home, it appears I'm doing the right thing.)

On my way to the Verizon store, I stopped off at E.'s place of business and gave him a birthday card, which I'd picked out at Walgreens after work. Tonight after he gets off work, he's going out with co-workers to celebrate at Duffy's. Never been there except once (or twice) when it used to be Hooters (or Shooters). It sits right on the Intracoastal, so the location is pretty. (I think E. used to work there when it was Hooters or Shooters.)

The new "Millionaire Matchmakers" was good tonight. (Ayinde is an asshole.)
