Just watched a new "Off Limits," about NYC. Interesting.
I have to say, having E. "back in my life" is a big adjustment for me. (I've been such a loner the past 3 years.) And then me helping him find the apartment through Renter's Paradise, and then the grueling wait to get in. It's been taxing, but I'm glad he's finally in there. I have more "peace of mind" too. But last night was a little worrisome.
Instead of E.'s driving down to Flanigan's on his night off, I suggested a little beer bar a block and a half from his place, on West Dixie. (I've been there, but I'm not a beer drinker anymore - E. is.) Tonight E. said it looked closed when he drove past it earlier, but maybe it doesn't open till later. I'd suggested he and I meet up there on a night when I don't have to go to work the next morning, and we could walk back to his place and crash. (I can drink some wine.) I hope the place is still open. It's been there for years.
Last night I was worried about E. because he'd had such a trying day and I was afraid he'd have too much to drink and get into trouble driving home. That had been my main concern. I probably should have let him come over here from Flanigan's (which is a block south), but then he'd probably have wanted a cocktail (didn't have beer, but bought some tonight), and then I...
([11:39] He just called from home. He said that the little beer bar looks "abandoned." Oh well.)
[To continue:] I'd have then been even more worried about his driving back home and would have insisted he spend the night here. But then, he didn't have his medication with him. Just as well things turned out the way they did, worried as I'd been.
I just now told him if he wants to come over here and has to crash (not drive home), he has to bring his medication. (Last night I had to remind him to take it - he was so emotional and out of it.) (When I just now reminded him of that, he said I was his "guardian angel." Maybe in a way I am.)
He really appreciated having the boom box and the Lady Gaga CD.
P.S. It's really windy and stormy (and humid) here tonight. No hanging out on the terrace for Lucas. (The wind was gushing through the cat door and not allowing it to close.) (Not good for the A/C.) Lucas has been OK with it.
