"Four Weddings" was good. All the weddings were rated in the 70s. Not too shabby. This was a Chicago show. I was impressed with the white, horse-drawn Cinderella carriage that took one of the couples to and from the lovely church outside Chicago, somewhere in Indiana. But then there was a five-hour gap between the wedding and the reception (maybe not uncommon for the town). The other three brides, who had driven a ways from the city to get there, hung out with the bride's family during the break, looking pretty bored. (I think the Indiana bride came in second, despite the wait, since the reception was hopping and everyone loved the carriage.)
The new food processor comes with a video CD showing how to assemble the machine, how to use it, and also how to make some of the recipes that are included in the booklet that accompanies it. I watched the assembly and how-to-use part, plus a few of the recipe demonstrations, by a French chef here in the U.S. with restaurants in Las Vegas and San Francisco. My old food processor (which I bought used) didn't come with any disks to slice and shred stuff, just a chopping blade. The new one has two disks, a chopping blade, and also a plastic blade for making dough. (And also comes with a sleek spatula.)
I can now shred cabbage in the food processor, something I will be doing. I can also easily slice squash, which I also will be doing. All parts of the food processor (except the motor, of course) are dishwasher-safe.
I looked this model* up on the Internet and it has very high, almost perfect ratings. (Amazon has 300 customer reviews.) You can buy it on the Internet for $99 (probably not including shipping). I'm so proud I got it for $50 (self-shipped at $0). (Amazon says the list price is $180.) It's really something I've long wanted but couldn't justify buying until now.
It's so pretty, I think I'll keep it out on the counter, with the white hand-blender, white can-opener and white toaster. I also can't wait to use it (going to make salmon loaf first). I think keeping it out on the counter will also encourage me to use it. I've really slacked off in the cooking department lately, being so fixated on work. And I always hated dragging the ugly old food processor out of her hiding place of shame. (Some of the components of the new food processor will now occupy her space.)
It was a good day. Tired now.P.S. Today I started re-watching Obama's speech from the White House website, and I hadn't missed all that much.
