More tinkering with the 401K balances tonight after dinner at KFC and a trip to the grocery store for cat food, etc. Chicken was lousy. (I don't go there often, but it's within walking distance. Half the time, the chicken is lousy.) I like the Original Recipe, but today I could barely savor the 11 different herbs and spices. At least it was tender and juicy. Well, the breast was, if not the wing. I had no complaint with the cole slaw or green beans, however. Their cole slaw is the best.
Now I'm watching "Super Eruption" on SyFy. Yellowstone Park is erupting. Visited the park years ago and spent the night at the Old Faithful Inn. There was still a good bit of snow on the ground at the time (early summer). As we were about to drive out of the park into Wyoming, a snow storm came up and blocked our exit route, so we had to take another way out. Then the car broke down in Casper, and we had to wait hours to get a part. Long story... (Was with my first ex, who was driving.) (He had a chrome yellow Karmann Ghia, with a great heater.)
Anyway, I'd never seen anything like this hotel, a log structure which opened in 1904, with a cavernous lobby and a massive stone fireplace [shown below].
On the upper levels of the lobby were writing desks where you could sit and write letters or postcards. (Nowadays you'd sit up there with your traveling laptop, since they probably have WiFi.) (Or maybe they don't.) The Old Faithful Geyser was a short distance from the front of the hotel, and we watched one of its eruptions. According to the Wikipedia, the eruptions are occurring less frequently than they used to. Nonetheless the entire park is a steamy, bubbly wonderland. (This movie is really not that far-fetched.)
Well, that movie's over. So what's next? ("Doomsday Prophecy," which was on earlier - did not watch.)
Time to chill.
